This was not intented to step on anyones toes.
I am just relying what I read since some of it was hard for me to fully grasp.
I have choose to homeschool I am not saying that you must to be a Christian. More along the line (I feel) that you teach your children your Christian values because they might not learn them at school.
I opened up the book and read it while in the car driving to the wedding. Man it was a hard book to read and I had a lot of EYE OPENERS. This is not even in the book yet just the introduction. All of this comes from: Teaching and Learning America's Christian History developed by Rosalie J. Slater
"America's proud heritage and traditions have been subverted. While it is easy to point out the aggressiveness of those forces which would "divide and conquer" us, we as a a people by our "falling away" have provided the means and opportunity for its accomplishment. "
Then is ask these very hard questions:
"Have I imparted to my own family circle the understanding and knowledge of America's history and purpose and tradition? Or have I relegated this responsibility to agencies outside the home?" I mean really am I the only one that is saying ouch!!!!!!
" What am I doing to support my church in a program of Christian Americanism? Does my pastor have my support in his leadership from the pulpit in Biblical American Christian patriotism?" Wow that is a totally other area and huge task!!!!
"Am I helping my Christian school to separate from secularism- and fulfill its leadership in Christian curriculum and Christian teaching methods? Am I supporting a program which teaches Christian History of the Constitution?"
So this is the very first thing in the book and I am blown away. Can I do this I want my kids to be raised in a Christian based program. This program sounds like it is wonderful it provides the kids with a whole lot of scriptures from the Bible. It shows how our Founding Father's relied on God to provide for their needs and protect their country. I just hope that I can take this and change my home. I was not raised in a Christian home. We were allowed to go to church and my grandfather was a pastor. But I never learned how to read, pray, and reach God daily. So I am hoping that this will form in me a daily need and want for interaction with God.
