Reading Lessons

Ok I know that this might sound really weird but hear me out. What do you teachers out there think about reading lessons? Would you recommend a kids have them to improve their skills? I always know their are those students that are always lagging behind and never seem to catchup. So they would be tutored by me in reading skills to help them catch up. Does this sound like something that a parent would pay for to help out their child? Sorry can't sleep and wondering about this. I like the idea and felt like I can't get it off my brain. So comment later after your wonderful sleep. Thanks!

I'm not a professional teacher, but here's my point of view. Practice makes perfect. Anything you can practice at home with your kids (making it a positive experience) is going to help them. My mom found Hooked On Phonics at Big Lots for $30 and bought it for me (and my sister). It is very easy to use. My 4 yr. old is learning to read and my 6 yr. old is reading better. They like it and actually ask to "do their reading chart".

Sorry, I just read that again and I see you are considering a tutor. That would help, too, of course, but it would be cheaper and more time with you for the kids if you got HOP. I think in the time it took for you to drive them back and forth from reading lessons, you could have done it yourself.

Looks like Cam needs to reread this blog AGAIN! Maybe you could offer tutoring to adults - heehee.
